Crusade Summary: Hundreds of Thousands Came to Jesus Christ!!!!

These are the Cushite people, spoken of in the Old Testament. They have never heard of the love the Eternal God has for them and all He has done for their lives. All these tribes have known of life is fighting and terrible human suffering along the borders of northern and South Sudan. All they have known for ‘hope’ is formal religion, rituals, and witchcraft, leaving them dissatisfied and completely unchanged. They’ve been waiting for someone to come and tell them the truth about reality and about the powerful God who truly loves them and works amongst human-kind to affect their personal lives. They long to hear and see the truth before they can believe.

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach except they be sent?” Romans 10:14-15

We prayed and believed in our hearts that God could use us to take Jesus and His love to these deeply hungry people. So we went, led by the Holy Spirit.

Driving to Bahr-El-Gazal took over five days on dusty, pitted dirt roads in weather of over 110˚ heat both day and night. Our team spent many nights parked along the roadside, sleeping in the truck on top of the luggage. The roadway we traveled was full of gunfire and ambushes both ahead of and behind us. This violence continued along the road even during our crusade. But, our team was committed, zealous, and full of prayer and expectancy for the awesome things God would do.

When we arrived in Aweil, we didn’t know where to sleep, what to eat, or what was even safe. The nature and culture of the people were contrary to anything we’d seen before. We had already exhausted all the resources we had received for this trip to reach these people, but no matter the obstacle, we weren’t turning back! We had come so that God could visit these men…walk among them, make them His people and He, their God. What an awesome thing to witness this kind of restoration.

Arriving in Aweil

We set up our equipment in a massive, dusty space in this immense desert. The heat was unbearable, but no one complained. We were honored to be here, knowing God had gone ahead of us.

As usual, we sent signals into the towns and villages through the radio stations and pasted posters to walls and trees in every marketplace we could find. These posters declared that Jesus was in town – to stay – coming with love, healing, and forgiveness beyond any human ability. This is exactly the original plan of God for all humankind.

As the crusade began, we saw people arrive who had traveled a week on foot from the northern border and surrounding states. They were hungry for life, wanting answers for their questions from the Supreme and Living God. And we indeed saw our loving and Almighty Savior move among men as never before. There were miracles of all kinds, the greatest being the salvation and transformation of hearts from darkness into light. God’s Word IS the power of God unto salvation. (Romans 1:16)

Our message was simple. We preached Christ, Him crucified, and His forgiving love. The message brought conviction instead of condemnation, and thousands of hungry people gave their lives to Jesus. Soldiers, police, government officials, widows, street boys, Ministers, Counselors, and Commissioners: all came to repentance.

Before the seven days were over, we estimated:
1)    Over 1 million souls came to salvation.
2)    Miracles occurred by the thousands. More blind and lunatic people were healed spontaneously throughout the crowd each night than we have ever seen in any one crusade.
3)    We had daily leadership and discipleship training for Pastors and Church leaders to prepare them to contain and disciple the massive harvest of souls being saved that week. What hunger we found in the leaders, as well as the new converts!
4)    Over 100 attended the Government and Church Leaders’ Breakfast. We shared the Seven Mountain Strategy for National Transformation based entirely upon the application of God’s Word to every area of society.

A man named Deng was brought to the crusade in a long dirty, white robe with dreadlocks in his hair and wrists and ankles bound in metal shackles. He was just like the man in chains who was living in the graveyard when Jesus found him. As Deng received prayer, he was restored to his right mind, the shackles were cut off, and he stretched his legs for the first time in thirteen years. His dreadlocks (a symbol of satanic control) were cut off, and he knelt down and gave his life to Jesus! Here was another man, who was now set free physically and spiritually! This is just one sign of the true freedom that God is bringing in this land. Governments, psychology, and dead religion can never give true freedom, or answer the needs of the many men like Deng.
