Seduction's Flash Point
July 15-17, 2010

Fire Cabaret

Don’t miss this evening of drinking, dancing and illicit fire.  The Crucible’s vast studio will be transformed into our first ever Fire Cabaret.  With seductive performances both on stage and throughout the studio, this fantastically fiery evening will be filled with walk-through performance installations, fire sculptures, industrial art demonstrations, photo opportunities and a theatrical stage show.  Guests are encouraged to dress up and walk around this sizzling interactive environment to experience Arc welding flash dance, torch cutting burlesque, M.I.G. welding strip tease, T.I.G. welding aerial and many more of the fiery industrial arts as only The Crucible can present.

Kim Nalley, one of the world's best jazz and blues vocalists will reign as the diva of Heat. Behold the mesmerizing aerial artistry of Scarlett & Axelrod, witness the death defying feats of Gravity Plays Favorites and Jennings & Xiao Hong and feel the Heat from a variety of other hot performers.

Feel the radiance of outlawed fire sculptures and strike a pose in front of 1920’s vintage bootlegger cars and in the notorious Photo Boof.  Come decked out in your Deco best... flappers, dandies, gangsters and molls are all welcome at Heat.

Nemo Gould served as guest juror for this very special exhibition, and will debut his most recent creation, Po’bot, at this show.  Gould's work has been featured frequently in national media and is shown in galleries and museums throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Artists will be on hand at the opening reception to share insights about creating works of art that swing, sway, blink, breathe, ring, react, paint, talk back and seemingly have a life of their own.  These pieces are designed to be touched or interacted with by the observer, and will bring out the child in everyone.  Come play!
