Hear and Say
Last Friday evening, I set up a little stand at the C&K Hear and Say Fundraising Twilight Market. One of the children who attends Family Day Care with my son has recently been diagnosed with a hearing impairment, and as there are another two children in the local C&K scheme who are also hearing impaired, C&K decided it was time to help out by raising some funds for Hear and Say. It was a great evening, and lots of fun was had by everyone!
It was lovely to meet everyone who stopped by the stall, and a special welcome to those of you who also signed up to receive this newsletter. The fundraising was very successful, and The Silver Forge donated 10% of all sales made; all of which will help Hear and Say to continue their good work!

MND Australia
Motor Neurone Disease is a rapidly progressive and terminal neurological disease. There is no known cure and no effective treatment. People with MND progressively lose the use of their limbs and their ability to speak, swallow and breathe, while their mind and senses usually remain intact.
One of my fellow MadeIt sellers, Belinda, is raising funds for MND Australia - please visit her Everyday Hero page to read her story, and help her make a difference. For the rest of May, 10% of all Silver Forge sales will be donated to MND Australia, who fund research and provide support for those living with this disease.

Wild, Weird & Wonderful
Pink Rabbit
Yarn bombing. Yarnstorming. Grafitti knitting. Guerilla knitting. Whatever you like to call it, I first encountered the phenomenon in the UK, on a little side visit I took with my sisters one day to the seaside town of Whitstable. (The guerilla knitters referred to it as 'Knitstable' of course.. hehehe!). I was so taken with the whole concept, in which you knit useless items, and secretly attach them to the landscape. Endlessly surprising, outside-the-box creative and what-the? amusing (and eco-friendly as long as you use real wool...) I think this 55 metre tall pink rabbit, knitted by Gelitin (four artists from Vienna, Austria) over nearly five years, is surely the largest yarn bomb ever... and it makes me smile, anyway. Break out your knitting needles, folks, and yarnstorm yourself up some fun!
