Sumner Bays Union Trust Newsletter 11 April 2013

Hi everyone,

Who felt that frost yesterday morning? I did.

An Information Session with Age Concern Canterbury for the Accredited Visiting Service will be held on Wednesday 17 April at the Redcliffs Community Shed, 99c Main Road. If you need to bring your littlies, feel free to do so.

Public Meeting, Redcliffs Community Shed, Saturday 5 May, 2 pm, 99c Main Road.
Redcliffs Community Shed is looking for members now. The buildings are repaired and we're rearing to go. The Community Shed folks would like to invite anyone who is keen to get involved to a public meeting. We'll have the membership forms there and we'll talk about what's happening here and how the place works.  A formal opening will be held at a later date.

Community BBQ @ OK Corral, Sunday 21 April 2013, 11 a.m. - 2 pm
Reg and Rena and the team have organised another community BBQ for Redcliffs at the OK Corral Scooter Park on the empty New World site. Everyone is invited to come. Bring your children, your grandparents, your children's scooters and skateboards, and come and enjoy the fun. Big thanks to Diana Saxton at the council for helping out with the seating and the sausages.

A special Coffee & Conversation with Beryl McCombs Memorial Kidfirst Kindergarten this coming Thursday 18 April from 10.30 am - 12 noon. This marks an end of two years of sharing the premises at the Union Church with the kindergarten and I know I'll miss them.

Music Workshop for seniors will be held on Tuesday 28 Mary at the temporary Sumner Community Centre (old school hall, Wiggins Street). Come and have a go at learning the xylophone with experienced tutor Beth Cohen. Places are limited so be in quick to enrol!

Computing @ Redcliffs classes have begun again. To find out more, contact Lydia, our tutor on 326-5601. The classes are happening on Saturday mornings in the Redcliffs Community Shed as requested.

OK Corral Skate Park is open Monday to Friday, 3 – 4.30 pm and Sunday and Saturday, 2.30 – 4.30 pm at the Redcliffs New World site for primary school children to use. This is a spin-off of the Redcliffs Community Shed. All sessions have adult supervision. Thanks so much to Reg & Rena Dalley and everyone who helps out - there's quite a few of you now!

Mother Hubbard’s Creative Co-op is running on Fridays, 9.30am -1.30pm at the Shed (behind the fish’n’chip shop) in Redcliffs. Bring your own projects or just bring your scissors! Let's get together for a cuppa and a yarn. Please spread the word… anyone and everyone welcome.
