MDA E-News, A Bi-Weekly Newsletter Tuesday, April 2, 2013
The Mission of the McMinnville Downtown Association is to sustain and enhance historic
downtown McMinnville as the cultural, retail and professional heart of the community.
ATTENTION DOWNTOWN BUSINESS OWNERS

It’s time to reserve the space in front of your store for Turkey Rama!

McMinnville Downtown Association and the McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce are teaming up for the 53rd Annual Turkey Rama once again, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever! All booth activity will be under the auspices of the MDA, while the carnival, the Turkey Trot and the Turkey BBQ will be handled by the Chamber.

Here’s the priority of booth assignments and cost.

1.      If your business is located on Third Street, within the Historic District, you PAY NO BOOTH FEE. But in order to claim the space in front of your store, we need to have your reservation no later than April 30.

2.      Next, we’ll fill in other spaces on Third Street not taken by storefront merchants. These will be free as well, but you must have a business within the Historic District.

3.     If you are a business located OUTSIDE the Historic District but you are an MDA member, OR if you are a nonprofit, your booth fee is just $100 (except if you want to be located in the Vendor Village or the Food Court; higher fees apply there).

4.     Finally, if you are any other business located anywhere else, your fee for a Third Street placement with no electricity is $150.

Don’t wait long – save the space right in front of your store. Be creative! You’ll get greater sales with greater planning – use your imagination! The link to Third Street booths is here. These booth assignments are for one day only.

The link to Vendor Village or Food Court booths is here and here. These booth assignments are for two days.

Call Kendra at 503-472-3605 or email her at kendra@downtownmcminnville.com if you have any questions.

Thanks! And gobble, gobble!

Cheers,
Cassie Sollars
Manager

Lori Wallace Lloyd -Classical Art Atelier
309 NE Third St
Suite 2
McMinnville, Or 97128
503-440-6240

Lori Wallace-Lloyd's Classical Art Atelier has opened on downtown McMinnville's Third St, with a Grand Opening planned for Saturday, April 20, 5-8pm, in conjunction with the Art & Wine Walk. Lori plans to use the atelier as a combination studio and classroom, providing adult & kid's groups and private classes while opening as a gallery on most Fridays & Saturdays. When offering traditional training for representational artists, Lori emphasizes accuracy, finish, life, and beauty and draws on her years of experience teaching in the Cannon Beach/Seaside area. "I want people to experience the process of art through its entire journey." She believes anyone is potentially an artist. "There's really no mystery to solid draftsmanship, it's a matter of learning a skill through practice and determination, breaking down the complexity into easily comprehendible parts. Once you have the skill set, you are freed to develop your own style."

Lori paints timeless feminine figures, sometimes in allegorical situations, such as the Four Seasons, girls in floral wreathes, ballerinas etc. As well. she paints many still life and landscapes and is currently working on a series of visual 'feasts' to celebrate wine country.

A former military officer, Lori settled in Oregon and last year relocated to McMinnville with her family. As well as being classically trained, she has her Masters of Fine Art from the Academy of Art in San Francisco and has won many awards including Grand Prize at the Portland Rose Festival.
