Updates from March & February

Ibadan Maternal Health Outcome Study Updates

March brought an important milestone to the University of Chicago-led public health study. PGI Nigeria Director Joe Obueh traveled from Ibadan to Ogbomosho, the site of the NABDA Ethanol Microdistillery project, to receive 150 CleanCook ethanol stoves from the Nigerian National Biotechnology Development Agency. Dr. Oyedele, Director of NABDA-Ogbomosho BIODEC, officially presented the cookstoves to Mr. Joe Obueh and Mr. Adebayo in support of the ambitious study.

Earlier in March, the public health study team kickstarted the stove and fuel project component of the study entitled, "Household Air Pollution from Burning Biomass: Implications for Maternal Health and Pregnancy Outcomes in Ibadan" with a 2-day inception training and capacity building protocol. The training was led by Joe Obueh for the team at the
Healthy Life For All Foundation, a key implementing partner of the project in Ibadan.

Project Gaia Featured in GGCA Interview

Project Gaia had the opportunity to speak about its international work with the Global Gender and Climate Alliance's Program Assistant Abigail Long in February 2014. The full in interview is currently available at the GGCA website. The GGCA is a dynamic network that functions to ensure that climate change policies, decision making, and initiatives at the global, regional, and national levels are gender responsive. PGI highly values its membership in the GGCA as household energy is at the heart of gender and climate change issues.
