A Twist To An Old Lesson
Hello, <<First Name>>!
I want to tell you about a lesson my mom taught me at a very young age that I was kindly reminded of recently. While taking B-School courses (for more info on B-School, please read my previous newsletter here), Marie Forleo, creator of B-School, said, 'If you don't write it down, it doesn't exist.'
How true indeed!
What Marie is talking about is transferring our dreams from floating in that little bubble above our heads to making it concrete by putting it on paper. This way, we are more committed to being consistent in our lives and we will be able to physically see our progress!
I remember...wayyyy back in the day, before iPhones and Androids, we had to write everything down! Those things included writing down people's phone numbers in our address book, appointments in our planners, and even grocery list on our notepads. Now, things are digital and sync! How convenient for us!
Since my college days at La Salle University, I would commit everything to memory! And, yes this also was the time before the iphones and texting! The flip phones were popular and I had to type 'the'facebook.com to get on Facebook! I committed important dates to mind because I didn't want to walk around with a bulky planner.
As President of The Commuter And Off-Campus Students (CAOS), I met with the Dean of Students every Wednesday (maybe that's why I prefer Wednesday to do the 'Ask Tia Wednesdays' lol), weekly meetings with my executive board, general commuter meetings, meetings with other Presidents of other Organizations on campus, and not to mention due dates for papers...oh and keeping track of the classes I missed :0)
After school, it didn't work as well because I would have to schedule dates with specialist (doctors) and we know we have to plan months in advance to schedule an appointment! Not to mention, I have to keep up with various projects, schedule events, and so forth for my business. I have to tell you that the iPhone, for me, is a blessing!
I have a bunch of dates on my calendar that sync with my iPad and my brother's iPod (my bro helps me tremendously...he creates most of the background music you hear on my YouTube videos!). I also jot down ideas and create 'To Do' lists in the notes section of my phone, which also syncs with the other apple products in the house.
Because of those wonderful abilities, I am able to see what's upcoming,what has past, and with whom I need to follow up regarding projects. So, it really just boils down to making my life easier by staying up-to-date with tasks that need to be done!
How do you manage to stay up to date with appointments, due dates, and other planning activities?
Writing it all down is something my mom taught me years ago and I'm glad Marie Forleo reminded me of the benefits of 'getting it on paper.'
