Warrior Athletics Continues to Press Forward

As the 2012-2013 academic and athletic year comes to an end, the SWU community and the Department of Athletics continues to press forward in moving SWU into a position as being the premier Christ-centered institution in the Southeast.

Throughout this past year, many events have happened that have continued that push forward. In mid-October, the SWU Department of Athletics received sponsorship from the Conference Carolinas, while making application to the NCAA Division II in February. The Department of Athletics has added four new sports, introduced a rebranding effort with a new logo, and has also added positions to the athletics support personnel. The driving range is near completion and construction on the new track and soccer field has already begun.

Many departments and people have had a hand in pushing SWU forward, as the campus welcomed the NCAA onto the Central campus on April 15 for the site visit. The campus community came together as Team SWU by wearing their best SWU Blue for the day, but by also working as one to show how SWU can have an impact on being an NCAA member.

SWU's Director of Athletics Chris Williams held a luncheon for some of those involved in the NCAA process this past Tuesday to continue to spearhead the future movement of the SWU campus.

"I am thankful to everyone that has continued our forward momentum for our university and the Department of Athletics," said Williams. "We will continue to run forward and seek God's plan in all that we do."
