University Clearing
Oxford has an ancient tradition of welcoming Spring at dawn on May Day with the choir of Magdalen College atop their tower: singing-in the sunrise as the bells are rung. (We won't dwell on the revelry far below as well-oiled University students, risking life and limb, jump into the river from Magdalen Bridge!).
At LASSCO Three Pigeons we have some of the bell-wheels from Magdalen Tower for sale (some have sold for rose arches, others for tables). Each bell of the peel, recently re-hung, formed the hub of these wheels. Up in the famous belfry each bell-rope rope wound around the circumference of the wheel and down to the campanologists below.
We also have some of the Yorkstone from the Longwall Quad at Magdalen College remaining - last laid by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1930. Over the subsequent eight decades it has only been worn by the soles of academics. It is wonderful stuff and it is selling fast!
  
We had a great time last month clearing a cellar of Corpus Christi College, one of the oldest Oxford University colleges, and emerged with firegrates, doors, a carved screen door, and some wonderful and large carved panels (pictured above). After such a long winter we have had an extended demand for firegrates - and have made a push to get re-stocked. The Corpus grates are just part of a fantastic selection. If you are renovating your fireplace over the summer and need a firegrate have a look through our stock now for the best choice.
Sunday Roasts
We're delighted to announce that, due to popular demand, LASSCO Three Pigeons will now be open for Sunday Roasts from this weekend. Lunch will be served from 12noon until 3pm - with all the trimmings. Gather a group of family and friends and head down to sit in our splendid Oxfordshire surroundings; if it's hot - grab a shady spot outside near the fountains, if it's not - sit down for your Lunch inside our distinctly over-decorated restaurant - Menu here. We'll do the washing-up while you go for a walk after! Email or telephone our Chefs, Sam or Elaine, if you would like to book. Elaine has just joined us after working first at the Sir Charles Napier (up on the hill) and then The James Figg in Thame - she's a charming and talented addition to the kitchen team!

Now you may not have heard of “Muddy Stilettos” but it is becoming quite a phenomenon in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. It is a wonderful award-winning blog that reports on everything that matters in the area.
