Sips & Songs Concert
The first ever Binc benefit concert scheduled for June 8, 2013 is shaping up to be a grand affair. The American Booksellers Association has generously stepped up as the event’s primary sponsor. We have 14 of southeastern Michigan’s leading singer/songwriters lined up, with Matthew Altruda of Ann Arbor’s 107.1FM acting as emcee for the evening. Local author, Steve Amick will be the featured speaker at the pre-concert dinner. The committee is hard at work to make this a memorable evening. Read more and order your tickets.

Helping Uninsured Booksellers

Being uninsured or under-insured doesn't mean you have to give up access to health care. Read what prompted one bookseller to write â€œBeing uninsured is a stressful situation and this Foundation truly is a blessing to… bookstore employees in need of help.  I had no idea how many different types of resources are out there to help and Binc can connect you to them.” Read the full story.

GLIBA Spring Forum
The Binc staff had a chance to meet and mingle with 30 booksellers at the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association’s Spring Forum in Ann Arbor. Nicola Rooney and her staff at Nicola’s Books graciously hosted the educational event. Oren Teicher and Joy Dallanegra-Sanger  from ABA were here from New York, the booksellers shared many great ideas, heard the latest from kobo and listened to Michigan author Mardi Jo Link speak about her upcoming book Bootstrapped. Binc would like to thank GLIBA's Executive Director, Deb Leonard for inviting us to this great event.
World Book Night
The Binc Foundation had 100% participation in World Book Night 2013. Pam passed out The Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith at the Neighborhood Health Center and Cross Street Village Senior Center in Ypsilanti, MI and the Social Service office in Ann Arbor.  Alison shared Willa Cather’s classic, My Antonia with 20 young readers at the Willow Run After School Program. You can read about Kit’s evening of distributing Still Alice by Lisa Genova in our Binc Bookshelf blog.

Super Star of the Month
Toni McGinn has been a regular here at the Binc offices since we moved in. Toni regularly visits to stuff envelopes, organize mailings, copy, staple, whatever we need her to do. She brightens our day with her great stories and her laughter. All who remember Toni as the smiling face behind the lobby desk at Borders home office will know how lucky we feel to still have Toni involved with the Foundation.
Here is Toni with Jaye Kerr on a recent visit.
