We have had a crazy spring here in Colorado with many snowy days along with VERY cold temperatures in the month of April. When the weather is bad I love to stay home where it is nice and warm and settle into my studio for some serious painting - what inspires you to create?

Our son Scott and his girlfriend Ali visited our daughter and son-in-law in Charleston, SC over spring break - a warm change from their Vermont weather. Along with exploring the historic downtown area, shopping at the old market, taking a carriage ride and walking along the beach they found this huge old oak tree - a great southern trip!

SWEET DREAMS - 11x15 watercolor. I painted the background colors on wet paper and then lifted out the highlights before it dried, adding a few details later for a soft look. Info on my website

Watercolor & More Workshop

New Video and John Denver
I just completed my second video on YouTube titled Colorado Watercolor Landscapes and could not resist using John Denver's Rocky Mountain High for the music. I actually went to the same high school he did in Ft. Worth, Texas altho it was several years after he graduated and every homecoming they would flash his yearbook picture up on the screen in the auditorium - John Deutschendorf - great times! Watercolor on Yupo
I LOVE painting on yupo, a synthetic paper with a slick surface that allows the colors to stay bright and all sorts of fun creative techniques. For this painting I used oil pastel for the line work and plastic wrap to create the texture in the background.
