I don’t know if it comes with age or if it’s the result of moving too many times, but recently I’ve been ruthlessly weeding out my material possessions. Books went to VPR volunteers to rummage through during the recent membership drive, clothes went to Goodwill. If only I could translate this new ethos to my desk here at VPR, I would be all set!
That’s why on Memorial Day I’ll be listening to “Clearing Your Desk & Your Mind,” a program about finding respite from the chaos of emails, cell phones and in-boxes and focusing in today's world. You’ll learn more in this edition of
prEview. You can also sign up to receive daily VPR headlines by email with News Link, and in VPR Cooks, a recipe for maple shortbread cookies made for VPR by some very dedicated listeners.
Best,
Michelle Jeffery

Clearing Your Desk & Your Mind Many people find themselves overwhelmed by the constant demands of email, text messages, cell phones and the in-box. The psychic cost of this chaos is much larger than you’d expect. On Monday, May 31st at noon and 7 p.m., David Allen, author of “Getting Things Done,” talks about
how to find peace of mind and focus in today’s world.
VPR Cooks: Say It With (VPR) Cookies Last week during VPR’s membership drive, loyal listeners and supporters Sue and George Meyers of Arlington sent David Warren back to VPR with a tin full of maple cookies in the shapes of the letters V, P, and R. The recipe is actually from our good friends, King Arthur Flour.
You’ll find it at our website. Coming Up On Vermont Edition May 20: Islam And Education Pakistan's madrassahs have been criticized as a crucible for radicalizing Islamic youth and fomenting terrorism. We'll discuss his book and whether the reputation of madrassahs is accurately reflected in the Western press.
