II. Internships, Scholarships and Freelancing

Grassroots Campaign, an outfit that designs and runs campaigns on behalf of various progressive advocacy groups, is looking to hire students for paid positions in their outreach teams this summer. Top candidates become field managers who help plan out outreach strategy and oversee staff on a daily basis.

• The Boston Globe and Boston.com are looking for a "creative technologist" for the summer. This is a paid, full-time position funded by the Knight Foundation. The main responsibility is "to write code that would, ideally, take an external research project (or set of ideas) and turn them into a real live project." Strong development skills are a must, and applicants should either be familiar with or easily learn PHP, Javascript and MySQL.

• Journalism student Taylor Smaldone ('15) is starting an online publication for queer and marginalized people in the Pioneer Valley. The publication will be focused on entertainment, education and health, and will be called College Queers. They are inviting all writers, musicians, poets, artists, photographers and activists to be a part of this organization dedicated to building community across and beyond campuses. If interested, please email the editors.
