and the exhibit of new work, "Coastal Inspirationsâ€
is on display May 1- 31.
There will be a wine and cheese reception and probably a bit of chocolate (of course!). This is also the evening of the French Quarter Art Walk
so the peninsula should be fun this evening!
"Coastal Inspirations"
is a collection of mostly small works or "little gems" inspired by my life and love of the ever changing and beautiful lowcountry. My creative process is constantly evolving as I explore my passion for art.

I work in both watercolor and oils and even though the process is quite different, I sometimes merge the two techniques. My oil paintings are occasionally done by brush work but mostly with a palette knife. "When I use the brush to paint in oils, I like to use a bit of the watercolor method of layers and glazing which creates a soft and luminous look however when I paint with the palette knife, the look is rich and vibrant which allows my creative process to continually evolve." My palette knife paintings are done wet on wet and are normally done at one sitting, in the "Alla Prima" style.

will be on display at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery
during the month of May.
Hours are daily 11-6 and until 8pm on Friday and Saturday.
The guild's gallery is a nonprofit organization serving the community with outreach programs through art sales. I am personally involved in several of the outreach programs working with children and art. It is so gratifying to see their freedom of expression at such a young age and I am inspired by them!
I am also honored to have been selected to show my painting, Old White Tractor Out to Pasture
at the Missouri Watercolor International Show in April and May. National Churchill Museum in Fulton MO.
So, what else has Rosie been doing?
Besides getting ready for the featured artist stint at CAG, I also volunteer as a lunch buddy mentor to a 7th grade student. I hope to continue on with her as she progresses in school. I've spent a couple of days recently working with some elementary school children in the after school art class, for the special kids that have "earned" to participate, and of course, spending time with the family and grand kids. Summer is coming so that means more granny time! Yeah!!!!!
