Dear Moms and Dads
It was so wonderful to see so many moms here, enjoying the day with their children last Friday morning. Your children certainly appreciated the effort that you made to be here. You are very special to your child and your interest in their education and the quality time spent with your child will have long-lasting effects on their growth and development.
We hope that you enjoyed seeing a glimpse into their morning at school and all the wonderful activities that they are encouraged to do in order to gain the necessary skills for life.
Please remember the Moms and Daughter/son Pamper Party that is being held here at school this Saturday 18th May from 9am. Please phone or email Jimina to book your time. Only R100 for mom and child! SOME HELP NEEDED
If there are any parents or grandparents who can help cover some of our library books, please let me know. We have a few brand new books that need covering and also some old books that need repairing.
We also need some help on an on-going basis repairing games and puzzles. Morning groups can be organised at school on Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning. Materials provided as well as a hot cup of tea/coffee!!
Please let me know if you can help.
 
PARENT WORKSHOP
Please sign up for the 2nd Parent workshops entitled- Behaviour modification. It is a must for each and every one. The cost will be R40 per couple. A babysitter will be provided at an extra cost of R10. The 2nd workshop is  Thursday 16 May at 7pm.
INTAKE FOR 2014
Thank you to those who have handed in their forms. We are however still waiting on a few more. If you have not done so already, please let us know if your child is returning to our school next year 2014.This is most important as we have many prospective children waiting for spaces and we need to fill them.

Medicine book.

Please note any medication that must be given to your child ast school, must be handed to the teacher and written up in the medicine book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FOOD FOR A FRIEND
Every Wednesday we would like to ask if you could provide an extra sandwich, fruit or tinned food item. We take these food stuffs to Rainbow Educare every Thursday. Their children get a rice dish  daily supplied by an NGO, and we would like to add to that.
OPEN DAY EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9am
We had a very successful day here on Saturday meeting new parents and their children. Please note any prospective parents wanting to have a look at our wonderful school, can come on a Wednesday at 9am. It is a fantastic opportunity to see the school in action. Please share this information with friends and family that may be looking for a spot for their child.

STAFF NEWS

Rita paid us a visit last week. It was wonderful to see her, but even more wonderful to see the children’s reaction. They were so happy to see her and all came for a gentle hug. Rita will be off for a few more weeks.

Fundraising for Epilepsy Research and Education
Gillian is organising a drive to knit little Elephants for the children at the Epilepsy Centre at Red Cross. We have the wool and the pattern, all we need is some knitters to do the rest. If anyone is interested in helping, please come at chat to me.
They will also be having a Quiz Night at ‘The Red Herring’ 7pm on Fri 17th May 2013

We are learning about ‘taste and smell’ this week.

Angelfish

The children loved having their moms here on Friday. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to join us. Please sign permission for our outing on 24th May and indicate if you are able to help with lifts.
I also need some volunteers to wash our hand towels.
Please try to bring your children to school before 8.30am. They need a little play time before we start morning ring. It gives them time to settle and play with their friends and it is very disruptive when you come in during ring times.

Hello all. Hope you all had a wonderful relaxing Mother’s Day’ yesterday
Our Theme is ‘Shapes’ this week.
We will be going on an outing to the Arboretum in Tokai on Wed 22nd June. We will need at least 13 parents to help with lifts- If you are able to help, please put your name on the outing list and sign for your child to go.
Please make sure your child has spare clothes in their bags.

We had such a great time on Friday with our moms and special people’-I was really proud of our little ones!
Please re-enforce ‘please and thank you’ at home-we are working hard at remembering this at the moment.

Hearing screening tests
Anne Carr will be back once again at our school to do hearing tests on the children. These hearing tests are screening tests to see if there are any hearing problems.
These screening tests are aimed at the Grade R children, but anyone else who would like their child to be tested are more than welcome.
The cost is R45 per child.
Anne will be at school on Friday 7th June.
Reply slips will be sent out next week with the newsletter.
Please Help
We are in desperate need of A4 paper. Please if you have some at the office please bring it in. It can have something on the one side and the children will draw on the other side!
We are also looking for purity bottles.

Here the Angelfish Children are having loads of fun doing music with Leonie from 'Junior Jive.' This is a music programme that we follow at Fish Hoek Pre-Primary. The Rainbows, Penguins and Angelfish classes have 'Junior Jive' once a week. It's fabulous!  
It was Mom's Day at our school last Friday. It was such a lovely day. Thanks to all our special mothers who took time off work to come and spend the morning with their precious children. They took part in the lessons and art time and got a glimpse of all the fun learning experiences their children have in a day to gain their necessary life skills. Have a look at more pictures of the day below.

Lets share our wonderful school with family and friends. Fish Hoek Pre-Primary will be giving prospective parents an opportunity to come and have a look at the school in action. Interested parents are welcome to pop in on Wednesdays at 9am for a school tour and chat.
Please spread the word and let more children benefit from our fabulous, warm, caring and educational environment.
We cater for children 2 years until 6 years which includes a Grade R year. Our Grade R's follow the WCED curriculum. (CAPS)
Here the Grade R children are doing an activity to practice 'visual closure and figure ground skills.
