Summer News
Rachel Heberling has been hired as summer editioning intern at Island Press, Washington University, St Louis. She will be moving to STL for 2 months to work alongside director Lisa Bulawsky and master printer Tom Reed, as well as two other interns: former OSU grad classmate John McCaughey and previous Island Press, Wingate Studio and Zea Mays intern Rachel Sperry. They will print the works of Ann Hamilton, Radcliffe Bailey, James Siena and Nina Katchadourian. It's one of the few university printshops that truly involves the students as collaborators with the artists. They also have an incredible 5-by-10 foot-long press! For more information watch this video and visit their website: Island Press.
This summer Tory Keith will be returning to Buck's Rock Creative and Performing Arts Camp for her third year as an instructor of printmaking and her second year as Head of Printmaking and Silk Screening. Buck's Rock Camp is located in New Milford, CT and provides young artists aged 9-16 with over 30 different programs in the creative and performing arts, taught by staff from all over the world.
Jack Arthur Wood, Jr. is working on the Transmogrify Print Portfolio Exchange, an effort to establish a dialogue between artists working in relief printmaking, as well as other mediums. He feels that in a modern context relief prints remain a DIY fixture. He finds punk rock in printmaking, and this is what keeps him carving. The artists participating in the exchange are dedicated to making art that is an extension of themselves or their beliefs, is provocative, and pronounced.
And Theresa Gates Kuhr has been invited to be part of the Ohio and Dresden Residency Exchange hosted by the OHIO Arts Council and Zygote press this fall for 5 weeks. She will be leaving to attend the Grafikwerkstatt Print studio in Dresden, Germany from late September through October.
Summer Open Studio
Please note that the Summer Open Studio schedule will be changing a bit. Keep an eye out for the changes on the TLP Blog and calendar after June 3rd.
