Dié beskrywingspunt is by NERPO se pas afgelope nasionale kongres aanvaar.
Mnr Aggrey Mahanjana, NERPO se groep besturende direkteur sê die organisasie se lede en ander kleinskaalse boere in die land ondervind hoë mortaliteite en lae geboortesyfers in hul diere weens ‘n gebrek aan dieresiektesorg.  Lees meer ...

Infestation of roundworm declined

Beef prices should remain strong

Internationally, beef prices are expected to continue to be strong supported by good demand and lower supplies, according to ABSA Agri Trends.

The slaughtering rate in Australia for female cattle is high, which will limit the herd rebuilding capacity and put further support to higher prices. The world demand for meat continues to grow as the middle class in developing countries grows richer.   Read more ...

Mutton prices will move sideways

NERPO are effectively utilised

“Most local and provincial structures are now effectively using NERPO for lobbying and advocacy,” said Bishop DP Mahlangu in his chairperson’s report at the NERPO annual general meeting, which was recently held near Pretoria.

He said the next milestone is to develop the capacity of NERPO’s local, district and provincial structures to use the association for the advancement of their livestock businesses.  Read more ...

Developing farmers must be commercialised

“NERPO’s primary objective is to facilitate commercialisation of the developing red meat sector, and ensure significant participation of the smallholder farmers in the mainstream markets on a competitive basis,” said Dr Langelihle Simela, NERPO chief executive officer at the NERPO annual general meeting.

She said this could not be more relevant given the predictions that the world needs to double food production within the next 35 years so as to keep up with predicted global demand.  Read more ...
