Brooksby Village TV Interview

On the morning of Patriot's Day, I appeared on the Brooksby Village television show "Morning Minutes." The interview gave me the opportunity to share more about my background and the work I'm doing in the Senate. Thanks for having me!
Valor Act II

I watched Governor Patrick sign Valor Act II into law, which expands services and resources to Massachusetts veterans and their families because as legislators, it's important to do all that we can to honor and thank our service men and women.
An Act Relative to Natural Gas Leaks

On April 10th, the Senate unanimously passed a bill designed to address public safety and environmental issues associated with gas leaks. Among other items, the Senate bill establishes natural gas leak classification standards, requires gas companies to repair the most dangerous leaks immediately, and aligns civil penalties for pipeline facility and gas transportation safety violations with federal law. The Senate and House will now produce a compromise bill for final passage.
Danvers TRIAD Council

April 16th , I attended a Danvers TRIAD Council meeting at the senior center and learned more about its programs and initiatives designed to keep seniors safe. The Danvers TRIAD Council is a partnership which includes the Sheriff and District Attorney of Essex County, the Danvers Police and Fire Chiefs, the Danvers Council on Aging, and seniors. This meeting featured a presentation from the Danvers Police Department, which provided useful information about fraud schemes that target seniors.
Senior CharlieCard

On April 14th, my office hosted a second senior CharlieCard workshop in Beverly. Nearly 300 seniors applied for a discounted CharlieCard without having to travel to Boston. The CharlieCards will be mailed directly to those who applied in the coming weeks.
Peabody Rotary Club

Recently, I spoke at a Peabody Rotary Club meeting about my work on mental health and substance abuse issues and I provided an update on legislation important to North Shore businesses. During my remarks, I discussed my work on the Senate Special Committee on Drug Abuse and Treatment Options as well as my thoughts on restoring the minimum wage and freezing unemployment insurance rates for employers.
Career Day

A few weeks ago, I attended the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School career day and shared what it's like to be a state Senator. The Peabody Education Foundation hosted the event with the goal of highlighting a wide-variety of professions and career paths. I truly believe that elected officials can have a positive and meaningful impact on the lives of their constituents, so I was grateful for the opportunity to convey that message to students interested in public policy or running for office. The event attracted hundreds of sophomore students.
Beverly Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast

Just this week, I spoke at the Second Annual Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast at Endicott College. The legislative breakfast also featured Rep. Jerry Parisella, Rep. Ted Speliotis, and Mayor Mike Cahill. The event provided Beverly business owners with an opportunity to hear the latest news from their elected representatives and to offer their ideas on how government can continue to partner with local businesses to create jobs and spur the economy.
