There are currently some emails circulating claiming to come from the ATO and usually offer a Tax Refund to the email recipient. These e-mails look very convincing, but may be a phising or refund scam. If you are concerned about the legitimacy of the email you can report and check it here with the ATO. The ATO site has examples of tax scams that are circulating.
Remember under no circumstances should you give out personal or financial details in reply to these emails.
If you are a Small Business that has or is hiring new employees you may be eligible for the Small Business Grant of up to $2,000 per employee.
What businesses are eligible? To be eligible for the grant your business must have an active ABN and not pay payroll tax
What employment is eligible?
A business will receive the grant if all the following employment conditions are met:
a person is employed in a position that is a new job
the employment commences on or after 1 July 2015 and before 1 July 2019
the employment is maintained for a period of 12 months
your number of full-time equivalent (FTE) employees, prior to creating a new position must increase and be maintained for over a 12 months period
the services of the employee are performed wholly or mainly in NSW
How much is the grant?
The grant is a one off payment of $2,000 per new full time position and is paid when a claim is made on the 12 month anniversary of when the position was created. The grant is paid on a pro-rated basis for new part time and casual employees.
