KC STREETCAR TESTING & PARKING

December 21, marked a major milestone in the KC Streetcar testing process: the day two streetcars took to Main Street at the same time.

This very coordinated and organized activity tested the electrification system under multiple streetcar start-ups, at full acceleration and under a heavy load. The test took several hours and all systems passed.

For the remainder of 2015, the KC Streetcar vehicle tests and operator trainings will take place within the limits of the Kite Singleton Maintenance Facility. Testing and training will resume on Main Street the first full week of January 2016.

KC STREETCAR CONSTRUCTION

Monday - Wednesday, this week:

3rd & Holmes corner and work
2nd & Oak corner and sidewalk work
Job wide sidewalk pour backs, OCS poor backs, street light work, touch-up work continue.
Job wide street lighting, WiFi installs, and power substation work. Day & night work.

NON KC STREETCAR WORK

14th & Main: Kansas City Power & Light intersection work. Traffic pushed to curb lanes on Main at 14th. Work to continue into the first week of January.

About the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Starter Line
The two-mile, north-south Downtown KC Streetcar will travel along Main Street and connect the River Market to Crown Center and Union Station, serving the Central Business District, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power and Light District, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants, art galleries, educational facilities and residents.
