KC STREETCAR #803 ARRIVAL & TESTING
The 3rd KC Streetcar vehicle, #803, arrived in Kansas City last week. This is the third in a four vehicle series for Kansas City's starter route. This vehicle will join with the other two in a series of equipment and operational testing both in the Singleton Yard and on the main streetcar route.
This week, the team will be testing the streetcar vehicles Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 12:00am – 6:00am, along Main Street between Pershing Rd and 18th Street. During testing, Main Street will be closed from Pershing Rd to 18th Street. There will be no east or west bound traffic across Main St from 19th or 20th Streets. East and westbound traffic will be detoured to 18th Street. The testing taking place involves speed and testing of the brake systems so it is vital that Main Street is clear of other vehicles and crossing pedestrians. This is for the public’s safety as well as for the safety of the streetcar team.

KC STREETCAR PERFORMS EMERGENCY EXERCISE
On February 9, the KC Streetcar Authority, the City of Kansas City, MO, and Herzog Transit Services conducted a full scale emergency exercise as part of the planning phase of the KC Streetcar system. This plan was produced with input and guidance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
The purpose of the KC Streetcar Full Scale Emergency Exercise was to test operational coordination and preparedness of the KC Streetcar and first responder personnel in the event of an incident involving a streetcar. KC Streetcar Authority personnel along with the Kansas City Police Department, the Kansas City Fire Department, first responders and the City of Kansas City, Missouri, coordinated and practiced their emergency protocols for dealing with such an incident.
