Software Update News:
This month we delivered our 27th update of the software since its initial launch in June, 2014. Remember – since CloudCalc is delivered on the cloud, you are automatically up to date every time every time you access the software, without having to install anything new. And our updates are always upward compatible, so you never have to convert old models to run on the latest version of the software.
- Version 1.02.07
- Added CIS/2 import capabilities. CloudCalc imports CIS/2 files created for Analysis (as opposed to Design or Detail), and imports:
- Geometry
- Section types (names must match those in the CloudCalc database)
- Beta angle
- True lengths (of members broken up for analysis purposes)
- Restraints
- Member end releases

- Added the ability to display the applied loads graphically. Clicking the Load Display icons displays the Concentrated and Uniform loads. Continuing to click these icons toggles the display through Loads Off, Dead Loads, Live Loads, and Occasional Loads:

- Added automatic (temporary) inclusion of section and material types in the user’s Local Member Catalogs. Now when you receive a structure that was not built by you (shared by another user, imported from a .CCM or CIS/2 file, etc.) any section or material types that are used in that model but that are not in your Local Catalogs are temporarily added, for use during that session only. In that way, you can immediately work on those structures without having to rebuild your Local Catalogs.

This week, on March 17, there will be millions of revelers worldwide, dressed in green and drinking Guinness. What could they be celebrating? The conversion of Ireland to Christianity? If so, they would be 1500 years too late. The ridding of a distant island of snakes? That couldn’t be of interest to anyone (other than an ophidiophobe). A heritage that is claimed by as many as 80,000,000 people throughout the globe? Maybe, but remember – there are over six billion who do not claim that heritage. But if we approach a crowd of celebrants at random, it’s possible that we just might overhear them singing:
“Saint Patrick was an engineer – he was, he was.
Saint Patrick was an engineer – he was, he was,
For he invented calculus and handed it down for us to cuss;
Erin Go Bragh – Rah! For the engineers!”
