Partner showcase roadshows May 2016
Book your place at one of our partner showcases

We’re finalising the agendas for the seven showcase events we are running with partners during May. The theme for each one is ‘Better patient outcomes through partnerships’ with local clinical leaders playing key roles in highlighting successful collaboration. There will be Q&A sessions featuring representatives from the NHS, universities, industry and the Oxford AHSN. It will also be an opportunity to pick up copies of three important documents:
  • Partner showcase Oxford 9 MayThe Oxford AHSN Annual Review 2015/16
  • Patient Safety priority projects
  • Developing leaders through partnerships – a joint publication with Health Education England
All the partner showcase events are free and open to all. If you plan to attend, please book your place using the links right and below. The events run from 4-6pm followed by light refreshments and networking. We look forward to seeing you.

LATEST PUBLICATIONS:

 
The Oxford AHSN has just published two key documents:
  • Our Annual Report 2015/16 includes case studies on catheter acquired urinary tract infection, reducing absence without leave from adult psychiatric wards, expanding pharmacists' consultation skills to better meet patients' medication needs and spreading best practice in dementia care. Read more here.
  • Our Business Plan for 2016/17 was endorsed by the Oxford AHSN Partnership Board on 30 March. You can find it here. You can find out more about what was discussed at the Partnership Board in the video below.
Partnership Board Update: March 2016
In this video Dr Nick Scott-Ram, Oxford AHSN Director of Commercial Development, talks about two items on the agenda at the Oxford AHSN Partnership Board meeting in Reading on 30 March: the successful Bicester Healthy New Towns initiative and an independent evaluation of four of our projects which showed they are delivering a real return on investment.

INNOVATION POSTER SHOWCASE LINE-UP COMPLETED


The line-up has been completed for the Oxford AHSN innovation poster showcase at BioTrinity next week. Representatives of all organisations will be on hand to discuss their posters and more between 11.30am and 1.30pm on 26 and 27 April.

The Oxford AHSN is also hosting a BioTrinity workshop on open innovation and the translation of university research into new companies. Read more here.



 

CLINICAL NETWORKS NEWS

  • The Oxford AHSN Best Care programme now has eight active clinical networks - including one new one: Respiratory
  • The Physical-Mental Health Comorbidity Network hosts an event on 22 April focusing on Developing a psychological medicine network. Read more here
  • The Children's Network hosts an event on 4 May focusing on how they are challenging variation in children's healthcare. Book your place.

AHSNs FORMALISE CLOSER WORKING ARRANGEMENTS WITH ABHI

 

The Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) and the national network of Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs), have announced work on a formal programme of activity between the two organisations. The work will lead to enhanced engagement between the AHSNs and ABHI’s 250 members. Early projects will include patient safety and plans to support the future sustainability of the networks. Joint events are taking place nationally and regionally. Read more

BUCKS NEW UNIVERSITY WINS GUARDIAN PRIZE


Bucks New University has won the Teaching Excellence category in the Guardian University awards for their use of simulation labs in nurse training. Read more.

OXFORD RECOGNISED AT EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF INNOVATION FINALS


Oxford was one of nine cities represented as finalists at the European Capital of Innovation Awards 2016 on April 8. Read more.
