Soul Force Records - 45s July 2016

Welcome to the first Soul 45 set sale I've done since October 2015! That's pretty horrible of me, I know and I apologize. Hopefully some of you long-time subscribers even remember who I am! Here we have fifty singles looking to go steady...with you! This is a judgement free zone, so feel free to take as many of them as you want home with you. A bit of housecleaning: I've been known to employ a fairly generous hold policy, but It's kind of a hassle in cases where I have people waiting for specific titles three deep. So, if you ask me to hold something for you, please give me a specific amount of time that you'll need to pay to allow me to keep fewer chainsaws and bowling pins in my juggling act. I appreciate it, and you. So enough talk, get in there, find some records for yourself and let's make your record collection great(er) again.

Shipping: 1 45 US = $3 / International = $13 USPS first class. Shipping cost for multiple 45s to be determined by weight. In general, I can often get three 45s into a package without an increase in postage cost. Priority mail, insurance, and other shipping services are available and recommended for orders over $75. Please let me know if you would like
to request additional shipping services.

Always a dancefloor favorite as you'd expect from a New Orleans master.

Roosevelt Roberts - Hooked On Your Love / I Bet You I Win (R&R 215) VG+ $40

Modern Soul out of Jackson Mississippi. B-side is rather scuffed up but plays ok. The dancer is much nicer.

Sunny & the Sunliners - I'm No Stranger / When It Rains (London 45-135) VG+ DJ $35

Great Northern Soul version of Seven Souls/Joe Bataan out of San Antonio.

Jimmy Tig and the Tig Family - Everybody's Laffing / Brainstorm (Tuska A-115) VG- $150

In pure Tuska form, it just doesn't show up very much.

Tony Troutman - So Much She's Gone Away / One Way Love (Swagger 407) VG $750

One of those records that's kind of a once in a lifetime chance to own. That's how rare it is. 1968 debut from Tony Troutman, who we wouldn't hear from again until well into the 1970s. I've asked Tony about this record a couple of times over the years. He doesn't even remember it. Pure Southern Soul brilliance. Don't expect to find anything else on the label either. While the catalog number is 407, that's also the street address for the label (now the bottom half of a duplex). At least by my count, this is one of four known copies.

Ike & Tina Turner - Finger Poppin / It's All Over (Warner Bros 5461) NM- $20

Are there rarer by Ike & Tina? Sure. Are there more in demand? Perhaps. Are there better? Not for my money....

Turning Poing - Got To Get Up - Git Out / Deeper In Love (Turning Poing 101) VG wol $60

Upbeat side sounds great. The ballad is a tad noisy.

Slow burning 70s funk from Dayton OH.

Danny White - The Twitch / Why Must I Be Blue (Frisco 109) NM $40

Crisp NOLA R&B niceness.

Lenny Williams - Feelin' Blue / How Can I Forget You? (Galaxy 770) VG+ sol $50

Just a badass funky soul dancer with fuzz guitar and fuzz BASS! Some may be more turned on by the Northern flip, but for me, it's "Feelin' Blue" that gets my attention.

Rev. Willingham and His Swanees - That's the Spirit / Try Me Father (SAS 3) VG- $20

Kickin R&B fuelled gospel based on James Brown songs. Plays much better than the grade.

Billy Young - The Sloopy / Same Thing All Over (Jotis 469) VG+ bb $25

Near-perfect 60s Soul dancer out of Macon GA. People (rightly) like to boast copies of Young's "Suffering With A Hangover", but Sloopy should not be overlooked!
