Tony Troutman - So
Much
She's Gone Away / One
Way
Love (Swagger 407) VG $750
One of those records that's kind of a once in a lifetime chance to own. That's how rare it is. 1968 debut from Tony Troutman, who we wouldn't hear from again until well into the 1970s. I've asked Tony about this record a couple of times over the years. He doesn't even remember it. Pure Southern Soul brilliance. Don't expect to find anything else on the label either. While the catalog number is 407, that's also the street address for the label (now the bottom half of a duplex). At least by my count, this is one of four known copies. |
Ike & Tina
Turner - Finger
Poppin / It's All
Over (Warner Bros 5461) NM- $20
Are there rarer by Ike & Tina? Sure. Are there more in demand? Perhaps. Are there better? Not for my money.... |

I Be Blue (Frisco 109) NM $40
Crisp NOLA R&B niceness. |
Lenny Williams - Feelin'
Blue / How
Can I Forget You? (Galaxy 770) VG+ sol $50
Just a badass funky soul dancer with fuzz guitar and fuzz BASS! Some may be more turned on by the Northern flip, but for me, it's "Feelin' Blue" that gets my attention. |
Rev. Willingham and
His Swanees - That's
the Spirit / Try
Me Father (SAS 3) VG- $20
Kickin R&B fuelled gospel based on James Brown songs. Plays much better than the grade. |
Billy Young - The
Sloopy / Same
Thing All Over (Jotis 469) VG+ bb $25
Near-perfect 60s Soul dancer out of Macon GA. People (rightly) like to boast copies of Young's "Suffering With A Hangover", but Sloopy should not be overlooked! |
