Week of February 23, 2015 | KC Downtown Streetcar Construction Update

New format! We streamlined the information in an effort to focus on the activities that have the greatest impact to the traveling public. If there is work scheduled for the week that involves significant traffic impacts, such as lane closures, detours, or parking restrictions, you will find it below with the key details and type of work noted in parenthesis.

CROSSROADS

Various lane closures and lane shifts Truman Rd south to 20th. (systems and track)

CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT

Lane closures Truman Road north through 13th. (systems and private utility)
Lane closures at 12th and Main. (water)
NIGHT WORK & Closure on Main between 9th and 10th, 7pm-5am, Mondays-Fridays. Main closed between 9th-10th at night with no on-street parking. 9th closed east and west of Main St, 24/7, with local access for deliveries and garages only. Loud construction work to occur prior to 10:30pm. All work is weather permitting. (water) Map of closure

RIVER MARKET

Delaware, 3rd to Independence, closed. Parking available on 3rd, 5th, and in area public parking lots. DE Loft Parking Lot at the southeast corner of 5th and Delaware accessible from Independence instead of 5th. Anticipated reopen the week of March 9 (track)
5th eastbound only from Delaware to just west of Main. The eastern entrance to the City Market parking lot will be accessible from the west and the east. 5th will remain this way until around the second week of March. (track)
No on-street parking on 3rd, from Grand to Main. (water)
Delaware, 2nd-3rd Streets, southbound traffic only. No on-street parking. (water)

Anticipated completion of all private (third-party) utility work is Spring 2015. KC Streetcar Constructors' track work continues in the River Market, Crossroads and Power and Light District into April 2015. Water/sewer work anticipated to be complete by late Spring 2015. Systems work, such as the overhead power system, will continue through Summer 2015.

About the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Starter Line
The two-mile, north-south Downtown KC Streetcar will travel along Main Street and connect the River Market to Crown Center and Union Station, serving the Central Business District, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power and Light District, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants, art galleries, educational facilities and residents.
