Suzanne Strempek Shea with Mags Riordan
Friday, March 20 at 6:00pm
Many of you were here to see Suzanne at her author event in December. Now she brings with her Mags Riordan, founder of the Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic in the African nation of Malawi.
Irishwoman, Mags Riordan, established this clinic 10 years ago in memory of her son Billy, who drowned at the age of 25 while on his third holiday in Malawi, a place he loved. Wondering what to do in his memory, Riordan realized there was little to no health care, with one doctor for 800,000 people. In its first decade, the clinic has served over 275,000 people.
Shea's book, "This is Paradise: An Irish Mother's Grief, an African Village's Plight and the Medical Clinic that Brought Fresh Hope to Both" chronicles the story of the clinic and the story of the amazing Mags Riordan, a mother that lost two children prior to Billy's death.
Books will be available for sale at this event.
