Park Within the Line

Recently, new roadway stripes and parking signs have popped up along Main Street in the Crossroads Arts District. These include parking lines to indicate where and how to park along the streetcar route. Parking signs also communicate to Park Within the White Line when parking on the streetcar route. Since streetcars and cars will share the roadway, and on-street parking is maintained on Main Street, new parking rules were developed to keep the traveling public safe and the streetcar moving smoothly.

Currently, traffic is extremely congested in the Central Business District between 8th - 12th Streets as crews build track and work on station electrical and cable systems on the west side of Main Street. CROSSROADS

Lane shifts on east side of Main between Truman Rd South & 16th St. (station platform)
5/18 - 5/22: Right lane closed on 19th east of Main. Work at south corners of 19th & Main (systems). Prep work on northeast corner of 19th & Main for station platform.
5/18 - 5/22: Deck slab pour and track turnout construction on Main St Viaduct. Traffic pushed to east side of Main, south of 20th St. Dedicated lane for Bus loading and unloading only on the east side.
NON-STREETCAR WORK taking place on 20th St between McGee and SW Blvd. Work being performed by Kansas City's Water Services Department and anticipated to take two months.
NON-STREETCAR WORK traffic signal work taking place at 19th & Grand. Work will impact sidewalks and curb lanes. Work being performed by Kansas City's Public Works Department with Mark One Electric. Work anticipated to take 2-3 weeks.

CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT

I-70 at Delaware Bridge, east sidewalk closure. (track)
KCATA Transit Center turn around closed during track work.
10th St closed between west bound Main-Baltimore. Open eastbound only. Bus turn around relocated on 10th St between Baltimore-Main. (track)
5/18 - 5/22: 11th St closed between Main-Baltimore. City Center Square Parking Garage will have alternating access points this week. Please look for signage in the area.(track)
5/19 - 5/22: Lane closures on 12th St between Main-Baltimore for track build and pours. (track)
5/20 - 5/22: Installation of OCS poles from Truman Rd. North to 12th St. East and west sides. Truman Rd North lane closure at 14th St during work.
Ongoing work for Overhead Contact System poles and electrical systems in the Power & Light District between 13th-14th Streets and in the Central Business District.

RIVER MARKET

5/18 - 5/22: 2nd St closed for track and lighting work on Grand, from 3rd to the Singleton Yard.
5/18 - 5/22: Curb, bumpout, sidewalk & ramp work at northeast and southeast corners of 3rd & Main.
Delaware Bridge track lanes closed and east sidewalk closed. (track)
5/18 - 5/22: Demo & restoration of southeast corner of 5th & Walnut. (track)
5/18 - 5/22: Grand closed to northbound traffic between 2nd & 3rd for systems work and 5th & Missouri for water work.
5/18 - 5/19: Holmes closed between 1st - 2nd Streets (water).
5/18 - 5/22: Track prep & build on 2nd towards VMF.
* Please note that the KCATA Bus and Mega Coach Bus drop-off/pick-up location on Grand has moved to 3rd St.

First station platform construction is complete with other platforms under construction. Anticipated completion of all private (third-party) utility work is Spring 2015. KC Streetcar Constructors' track work continues in the Power and Light District into May 2015. Water/sewer work anticipated to be complete by late Spring 2015. Systems work, such as the overhead power system, will continue through Summer 2015.

About the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Starter Line
The two-mile, north-south Downtown KC Streetcar will travel along Main Street and connect the River Market to Crown Center and Union Station, serving the Central Business District, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power and Light District, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants, art galleries, educational facilities and residents.
