Week of May 25, 2015 | KC Downtown Streetcar Construction Update

Station Stop Construction Continues

The northbound track station platform at 16th & Main is complete and work has started on two additional station platforms: 5th & Walnut and northbound 19th & Main.

Currently, traffic is extremely congested in the Central Business District between 8th - 12th Streets as crews finish southbound track and work on station electrical and cable systems on the west side of Main Street, while starting northbound track work on the east side of Main Street.

CROSSROADS

Lane shifts on east side of Main between Truman Rd South & 16th St for station platform work & power sub station work.
5/27: Water manhole work on Main near 18th St. Watch for lane shifts.
5/25 - 5/27: South lane closed on 19th St east of Main. Work at southeast corner of 19th & Main (systems).
5/26 - 6/15: Station stop platform work on northeast corner of 19th & Main. East lane closed. Traffic shifted to the west.
Track turnout construction & pour on Main St Viaduct. Traffic pushed to east side of Main, south of 20th St. Dedicated lane for Bus loading and unloading only on the east side.
Traffic Signal work at corners of 20th and Main.
OCS pole banding and mast arm installation from Truman Rd South - 20th St. Traffic pushed to the east side.
NON-STREETCAR WORK taking place on 20th St between McGee and SW Blvd. Work being performed by Kansas City's Water Services Department and anticipated to take two months.
NON-STREETCAR WORK traffic signal work taking place at 19th & Grand. Work will impact sidewalks and curb lanes. Work being performed by Kansas City's Public Works Department with Mark One Electric. Work anticipated to take 2-3 weeks.

CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT

I-70 at Delaware Bridge, east sidewalk closure. (track)
5/25 - 5/29: Northbound track work prep from Delaware Bridge - 10th St.
- 5/26 - 5/27: 7th St between Main-Walnut closed.
- 5/28: 8th St between Main-Walnut closed.
KCATA Transit Center turn around closed during track work.
10th St closed between west bound Main-Baltimore. Open eastbound only. Bus turn around relocated on 10th St between Baltimore-Main. (track)
OCS drill & pours on west side of Main St between 10th-11th Streets.
5/27: Lane closures on 12th St between Main-Baltimore for track pour.
Ongoing work for Overhead Contact System poles and electrical systems in the Power & Light District between 13th-14th Streets and in the Central Business District.
*Please take note of any Rider Notices from the KCATA. Bus pick-up and drop-off locations may shift.

RIVER MARKET

2nd St closed for track and lighting work on Grand, from 3rd to the Singleton Yard.
Form & build track and install path lighting on 2nd St towards Singleton Yard.
Grand closed to northbound traffic between 2nd & 3rd for systems work and 5th & Missouri for water work. * Please note that the KCATA Bus and Mega Coach Bus drop-off/pick-up location on Grand has moved to 3rd St.
5/26 - 5/27: Restoration of southeast corner of 5th & Walnut. (track)
5/28 - 6/15: Station stop build at 5th and Walnut. No parking along 5th St between Walnut - Main. Two-way traffic on 5th St will be maintained.

First station platform construction is complete with other platforms under construction. Anticipated completion of all private (third-party) utility work is Spring 2015. KC Streetcar Constructors' track work continues in the Central Business District into June 2015. Water/sewer work anticipated to be complete by late Spring 2015. Systems work, such as the overhead power system, will continue through Summer 2015.

About the Downtown Kansas City Streetcar Starter Line
The two-mile, north-south Downtown KC Streetcar will travel along Main Street and connect the River Market to Crown Center and Union Station, serving the Central Business District, the Crossroads Art District, and the Power and Light District, as well as numerous businesses, restaurants, art galleries, educational facilities and residents.
