Week of June 15, 2015 | KC Downtown Streetcar Construction Update
Overhead Streetcar Work
KC Streetcar construction took to the skies this week with the start of the overhead cable installation. This first "wire run" consisted of 3,600 feet of copper cable approximately 6/10 inches in diameter and spanned from Union Station to Truman Road South. This cable will power the KC Streetcar with 750 volts of DC power. The next installation of overhead cable is anticipated next week.
Currently, traffic is extremely congested in the Central Business District between 8th - 12th Streets and in the River Market area. Please check the construction map on www.kcstreetcar.org and our twitter feed (@kcstreetcar) daily for road closures updates. Currently 3rd is closed from Walnut-Grand ; 8th will close from Main-Walnut on June 19, and 13th will close Main-Baltimore on June 22.
For more detailed information about streetcar construction, including projected work duration or a "look ahead", please visit the KC Streetcar website. For the most up-to-date info follow the project on twitter @kcstreetcar.
