"Protect the Progress We've Made"

In 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) was created and has since become one of the most important anti-trafficking legislation in the United States. This legislation not only provides the legal definition for trafficking, but also the foundation for survivor and victim advocacy efforts.

Now, 17 years later, TVPA is due for re-authorization. In July, the House of Representatives voted for and passed the re-authorization. Next comes a vote in the Senate.

National organizations such as Polaris Project are asking you to let your senators know how crucial TVPA is to anti-trafficking advocacy. Through their page, Act Now, Polaris makes writing a letter to your senators effortless.

Dr. Julia Geynisman-Tan, one of our new physician chairs, will be giving a 1 hour round-table talk on the Gynecologist's Role in identifying and Responding to Trafficking at the American Urogyn Society Meeting.
The talk is scheduled from 6:45-7:45am on October 5th.

PATH is happy to announce new training events in the train the trainer series, Stand Up to Sex Trafficking: Awareness, Implementation, and Networking (SUSTAIN). After a very successful first event in New York City, the series is expanding to several cities around the United States. See below for dates and locations for 2017-2018.

We are calling for student members interested in interviewing either Dr. Mollie Gordon (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine) or Dr. Geynisman-Tan (Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellow at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine).
