Final Days to Confirm Your Presence in the 2017
Green Building Directory

We're finalizing work on our 2017 Green Building Directory. With 25,000 copies distributed at 100 spots across Western North Carolina, the directory helps share your company's unique offerings in the broader community as well as position you for high visibility in a targeted demographic.

The deadline to be included in the directory is July 1. As long as your membership is current at that time, your listing will be included in the 2017 Green Building Directory. Expired and new members must renew or join by July 1 in order to be included.
Whether you're joining for the first time or renewing after a lapse, there's no better time to become a WNCGBC member.

The end of this month is also the deadline to place an ad or enhance your listing. Please see our rate sheet and email hylah@smokymountainnews.com to increase visibility with an ad or extra logo, category or description on your listing.

APPALACHIAN OFFSETS: $92,000 Remaining To Raise on Isaac Dickson Solar Project

Isaac Dickson PTO President Matt Menne talks to the crowd at June 17's benefit concert with Franklin's Kite at The Altamont Theatre.

Momentum is continuing to build in fundraising for Appalachian Offsets' latest undertaking, a project to install a $1.1 million solar system on the roof of the new Isaac Dickson Elementary School.

The school was designed as one of the state’s first Net Zero Energy schools and has been awaiting the solar system since construction completed last year. Over its 30-year life, the system is expected to save $4.5 million in energy costs.

Private investors will cover the majority of up-front costs for the new solar system, and Appalachian Offsets is raising the remaining $220,000 needed to complete funding.

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, we have secured a matching grant of $110,000. With nearly $9,000 in tax-deductible contributions toward the project in recent weeks, we have only $92,000 left to raise from the community.

Help our community reach its goal.

Do This, Not That (Pinterest Edition)

Amy Musser of VandeMusser Design is usually among the first to know about the latest home design trends because she spends so much time in new homes. If it comes with an energy penalty, she's the first to sound the alarm, and if it causes other problems, she gets that feedback pretty quickly from the home's contractors.
