Sr. Joan Dawber Invited to Speak at Yale
Sr. Joan Dawber, SC, Executive Director of LifeWay Network, has been invited to present the deP. Goubeau Lecture at Yale University’s St. Thomas Moore Center on Sunday, October 30, 2016. She will speak on “A Modern Response to Modern Day Slavery: The Ministry of LifeWay Network.”

Comings and Goings at LifeWay Network
We recently bid a fond adieu to Jennifer Bailey, our Safe Housing Coordinator, as she left LifeWay for other pursuits. As Jen was much loved by the women residents in our safe houses, the women planned something special as a way to say goodbye and wish her all the best. Here, Jen is holding a basket of stones artfully decorated by the women with their messages for her. Jennifer’s loving presence and heart will be missed by all!
We are also thrilled to welcome new staff to LifeWay: Elizabeth Falcone joins us as Director of Safe Housing, Fiona Neale-May as Director of Operations, and Sr. Melissa Camardo as Director of Development.
Activities at LifeWay Safe Houses
The women residents in our safe houses participate in a wide variety of activities that encourage their growth and healing. In addition to their jobs, classes, and weekly house meetings, their activities include regular exercise sessions as part of their self-care plan. This helps the women not only get stronger physically, but learn about the mind-body connection as they start to heal from the trauma they have experienced. Hands-on activities also contribute to this healing. The women at LifeWay House 2 were thrilled to have a sewing machine donated recently, and one of the women who has sewing experience is sharing her skills with the other women.
