(That's "Good news, everyone!" in Chinese.)

I'm announcing it here officially: we've sold Simplified Chinese rights for both Waypoint Kangaroo and Kangaroo Too to CITIC, one of the largest publishers in China. Per the contract, they'll translate and publish WK before the end of 2018, and K2 soon after that. Tell your Chinese friends!

Thanks to everyone at the JABberwocky and Grayhawk literary agencies who made this deal. I look forward to seeing what covers end up on the Chinese editions, and whether they translate "Kangaroo" literally (i.e., as "bag rat").

In related news, I've accepted an invitation to participate in Melon Hong Kong, a new science fiction and fantasy conference happening this April 19-20 in the Fragrant Harbour. It should be an interesting mix of creative and business types, including award-winning writer Jo Walton, Penguin Random House executive Jo Lusby, and other people not named "Jo."

More locally, I have these events coming up in the Pacific Northwest:

• January 28th (this Saturday) - reading/signing at Vintage Books in Vancouver, WA with fellow local author Alexis Radcliff!
• January 31st (next Tuesday) - SFWA Reading in Kirkland, WA with Fonda Lee and Randy Henderson.
• February 2nd (one week from Thursday) - SFWA Reading in Portland, OR with Fonda Lee and Randy Henderson.
• February 10th (a Friday) - the SMART Alphabet Ball (fundraising dinner and auction) at the Portland Art Museum, where you can bid on a personalized short story written by me and illustrated by the fantastic Natalie Metzger!
