A Raw Water Master Plan Update:
Facilitator Chosen
Last April, NID announced that they were updating their Raw Water Master Plan (RWMP). The RWMP is a water management plan for the district that dictates how untreated water will be used by the District for the next fifty years. The plan hasn't been updated since 2011, and that plan informs NID's major projects. Projects like Centennial Dam.
NID has assured the community the RWMP will be a public process, and include input from stakeholders. Meanwhile, NID has continued to acquire property needed for the Centennial Project, demolished two structures, and budgeted an additional $2 million to spend on Centennial next year.
Now, however, NID has chosen a company to design and facilitate the RWMP process, without any public input, despite their earlier commitment to a open and transparent public process. Additionally, NID has increased their budget for the RWMP process from $500,000 to $1.1 million.
