Happy back-to-school from REL Northeast & Islands!

We're excited to share our ongoing activities to support your evidence-based decision-making. Next month, we will present a webinar that explores research on micro-credentialing, a new approach to educator professional learning. Hosted by our Professional Learning and Development Research Alliance, the October 17 webinar is open to anyone interested in the topic. See below for details and a registration link.

We also have three new blog posts to share, as well as recordings of two webinars on translating research to practice and our successful June Bridge Event on equity and diversity in teacher preparation, which drew nearly 100 participants.

This summer, we made important updates to our website. We added a publications search that allows you to search our research reports by topic area, keyword, or publication type. We published detailed pages about our 10 research partnerships and alliances, where you can learn about each partnership or alliance’s research goals, projects, and members. And we produced a video animation about our three guides on survey methods that educators can use to collect and analyze data they need.

Below you can find more information about these activities as well as links to other resources from the REL program. Questions or comments? relneiinfo@edc.org

Webinar
Micro-credentialing and Teacher Professional Learning

October 17, 2018: 1–2:30 p.m. Eastern

As district leaders seek new and improved ways to advance educator professional development, many are considering incorporating micro-credentials into their districts’ professional learning systems or are in the early stages of piloting them. Jennifer Kabaker, Director of Educator Micro-credentials at Digital Promise, will provide an overview of micro-credentials—including why they were developed, how they work, and which states and districts are using them—and will discuss recent and emerging research on micro-credentialing. The webinar also will explore lessons learned from early adopters about the design and implementation of these programs.
