Event & Agenda:
You will be able to photograph a REAL working ranch that raises Longhorn cattle -- something you rarely see today on ranches! This large working ranch is situated against the stunning Superstition Mountains, providing an incredible backdrop for sunrises and more! It's an easy 45-minute drive from Phoenix, AZ.
I am working with the ranch owner, plus numerous cowboys, cowgirls and more to provide plenty of photo ops! Photographic opportunities planned include:
- Shoots with the cowboys as they drive some of the free-range longhorns through the desert and into corrals
- Shooting the sunrises and sunsets for amazing silhouette shots on the saguaro-peppered ridges with the cowboys and horses
- Capturing the landscapes and nature (flora and fauna) that surround this incredible location in the heart of the Superstition Mountains! There are great opportunities for raptors in flight, many different desert birds, jackrabbits, possible javelina, and more!
- Outdoor studio light and natural light portrait sessions (with instruction by two professional portrait photographers and Lisa Langell for those who are new to portraits). We'll be photographing the cowboys, cowgirls, ranch dogs, and other special "characters" brought in for this event. We even have a photography/movie set made to look like you're on an old western ranch!
- Photographing the "rusty crusty stuff" like old horse shoes, leather saddles, weathered fences, and all the rest of the stuff that this amazing ranch has to offer!
- A special western ranch-style campfire in the evening while we have dinner and listen to local singer/songwriter Steve Holmquist as he beautifully sings with his guitar! This is a special treat and participants just LOVE this part of the event!
- Meet-and-Greet with Shelley Donnelly, the owner and manager of the ranch! Shelley has worked this ranch for decades and you'll love getting to know her quiet strength and sincere heart -- both of which help her run this ranch on her own!
- You can also take an optional horseback ride through the desert, guided by one of the local wranglers, to get totally different perspectives, experiences, sights and photographs!
- Great catered meals, camaraderie, and so much more!
Will there be horseback riding available?
An optional 2-hour horseback ride is available for $70/person with advance reservation. One of our cowboys will be your leader for the horseback ride and will provide additional photo opportunities along the Superstition Mountains!
