What Are "Floating Fleet" Aircraft?
As opposed to standard based-aircraft, whose quotes typically have to include costs of coming from or returning to that base, Floating Fleet aircraft do not have a base and can be quoted with point-to-point pricing. They stay out and fly around the country, from one charter to the next charter, in a string of flights, with minimal empty flying in between and lower costs.
These can be very advantageous for a one-way flight, or round trip flights over several days – where holding an aircraft over is more expensive.
Floating Fleets are the fastest growing segment of private charter. There are now 332 floating aircraft in the US, operated by 23 different companies.
