Thanks For Reading...

June, 2018

For an online church, it took American Marriage Ministries surprisingly long to launch our digital newsletter, but the wait is over! We know many people and organizations want your attention (and to fill your inbox). We’re going to make our newsletter worth your while. Once a month, we’ll bring you up to speed on the following – what’s new at AMM, the latest advice from seasoned officiants and wedding professionals, and our advocacy efforts around the country to make marriage accessible to everyone, no matter who they are!

The big news this month is obviously our new website, which we just launched. It’s got the functionality that our ministers need, integrated with an easy-to-use interface. Let us know what you think.

In addition to our new website, we’re growing in other ways such as the hiring of a communications director - me! My job here is to raise our profile and draw attention to the important work that we do here at AMM – helping couples celebrate wedding ceremonies that reflect their values and beliefs.

If you’ve got suggestions for how we can become a more active voice in the debate over marriage equality, ways to support our ministers, or any other advice, I’d love to hear from you.

In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll be locking in dates and events around the country where we’ll be participating in conferences and other events. Make sure to skim our monthly newsletter for more details!

Sincerely,
Lewis King, AMM Communications Director

Minister Spotlight

Laura A. Hill was ordained with American Marriage ministers in 2014 after a friend recommend our services. Since then, she has officiated eight weddings and has several more booked for the coming year.

Laura told us that she became a minister because, “I enjoy people and I absolutely love the feeling of bringing couples together for a lifetime.” Her passion for family, helpful demeanor, attention to detail, and ability to think outside of the box have made her a sought-after wedding officiant. Laura lives in Maryland and is open to performing all types of weddings. She dreams of one day opening her own wedding chapel!

News & Updates

We're Famous

While we take ordaining ministers seriously, our office is still a fun place to work. That’s why the folks from
the phone-in comedy and variety talk show “The Chris Gethard Show” stopped by our office to film a segment. They found out how easy it is to get ordained, and what you can and can’t do as a minister. Watch it here.

Bethany tries out her new powers on our staff.

It’s a nice day, for a barn wedding…

After picking their minister, a couple’s second most important decision (in our humble opinion) is choosing the venue for their wedding. More and more ceremonies are taking place in barns. Have you officiated a barn wedding? If so send us some pictures and tell us how it went!

The All New Website is Live!

Over the last few months, we’ve been hard at work redeveloping our website! We improved all of the features that brought you to AMM in the first place, and created new and exciting ways to interact with the AMM community. We set out to create a website where visitors can learn from previous ministers, and interact with a vibrant online community. The new website offers a cleaner layout, more need-to-know-information at your fingertips, and improved functionality.

And in case that just sounds line marketing buzzwords, let’s put it this way. We’ve made getting ordained and performing marriages as easy as signing up for an email account!

As happy as we are with the new site, we always want to improve the tools we provide for our Ministers. So, check it out, and when you’re done, let us know what features you would like to see on the AMM site.

Let's Celebrate Pride Month

June 1st will mark the beginning of Pride Month! Pride Month is a time to celebrate, bring awareness, and reflect on the history LGBTQ community. AMMs mission since our inception in 2008 has been to make marriage accessible to all people especially members of the LGBTQ community. Beyond ordination, AMM has chosen to
Brittany having fun at our booth in 2017                       support the LGBT community
and fight for equality through donations to organizations like the Trevor Project, It Gets Better, and the Human Rights Campaign. For the past three years, we have also co-sponsored an amazing event called Seattle PrideFest.

All year long activists and members of the LGBTQ community advocate for their rights. PrideFest is a time for members of the community and allies to take a small break from the fight and celebrate LGBTQ arts, culture, and of course, Pride. PrideFest also gives AMM staff and board members a chance to meet face to face with the community and let them about the services we provide. Also, it is a ton of fun!

This year PrideFest will be held Sunday, July 23rd at Seattle Center (home of the iconic Space needle!) following the official Seattle Pride Parade. If you are in the area you must check it out and visit our booth. We would love to meet you and give you some cool AMM swag!

More information about Seattle PrideFest visit their website. We look forward to seeing you at this year’s PrideFest!

If you decide to attend a Pride event please be sure to take a photo and share it with us on our Facebook page, tag us in your Instagram and Twitter accounts.

If you are not in the Seattle find a Pride event in your area.
