Introducing the new board of directors!
PRESIDENT:
Chandre Sanchez Reyes has over ten years of education experiece in classrooms with students acquiring the English language, very culturally diverse students, and students of low socioeconomic status. She is also an innovator in developing programs to address new teacher training. Her expertise in program development and teacher training will be a valuable asset to GHFP as many of the programs abroad are be created as "train the trainer" programs and will be assisting local African organizations in education and program development. Since a major part of GHFP's vision is to address the educational disparities among Southern African children in rural villages, Chandre's experience will be very valuable and make her a key liaison between the African educators and GHFP. SAVE THE DATE!!:
On Friday October 28th in Indianapolis, GHFP will be hosting their first annual MEGA-Party for a Purpose! We have Artisan Direct goods we purchased from African artists in Swaziland and South Africa. Almost 50% of the sale of these goods went to the Swazi artists. Typically these artists are women (grandmothers and other caregivers) who are raising HIV/AIDS orhans. An additional 30% of the proceeds will go toward GHFP programs (right now the emphasis is on the orphan education fund needed by December). The remaining 20% is set up as DONOR'S CHOICE - where the donor can select one of the GHFP programs (education, HIV orphanage playground, or computer literacy at the rural impoverished school) OR toward a GHFP service-learning participant's trip. More information will follow but if you have any questions, please contact us. If you live in the Indianapolis or Lafayette area and would like to host a subsequent Party for a Purpose that weekend (Oct 28-31st), please contact us. We would be thrilled to schedule more!
