Next Open Meeting takes place on Monday 4th November 2019
Our last Open Meeting of 2019 will take place on Monday 4th November at 2pm in The Church Rooms, Lostwithiel when local butcher and grazier James Kittow will be speaking. James will be taking us back through five generations of Kittow family history, to the roots where it all began in the late 1800s.

James will describe the epidemics the family meat business has faced through the decades, explaining where the business is pitched now and sharing his vision for the future.
Following the talk, there will be a discussion covering topics of interest to Lostwithiel U3A members.
Open Meetings give members the chance to chat with other people outside their interest groups, learn about current activities, and find out about any new groups being formed. They are ideal for new members to discover what is happening in Lostwithiel U3A.Open Meetings for 2020
Our Speaker Secretary, Alison Hurst, has now organised a full programme of speakers for 2020. The first two speakers will be:-
January 6th Richard Thomasson - Richard will be speaking to us about Newquay Airport. The talk is titled Connecting Cornwall to the world. Content will cover the airport's history, what is happening today, future aspirations and business opportunities.
. March 2nd - Ian Gasper - Ian is a former head teacher and much travelled individual. He has volunteered with VSO twice, in Ethiopia and Nigeria. He is an experienced speaker, having entertained many groups with his wonderfully illustrated talks.The talk is titled Patagonia, landscape and wildlife.
Speakers later in the year will include representatives of Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, The Commonwealth War Graves Commission and The National Trust.

Latest Lostwithiel News The Garden Visit Group is holding a planning meeting on Monday 11th November at the Royal Oak at 10.30am. As Annie, our group contact, says “There are times when you need to stop working in your own garden and get inspiration from other people’s creativity and hard work. Does this apply to you? In that case, you would fit in well in our group"
The programme for the next year is collectively drafted in November and confirmed in January with members sharing the research work. Our programme of visits to gardens, usually in Cornwall and Devon, starts in February to visit a snowdrop garden and ends in October to admire the autumn colours.”

The Photography Group is busy preparing its’ bi-annual exhibition which will be held at Shire Hall, Bodmin from Mon 25th to Friday 29th November and Monday 2nd to Friday 6th December from 9am to 2pm. There will be over 70 images on display from 17 different photographers so do please pop over to Bodmin and take a look. Although we are slightly biased we think they are a talented bunch!
