We Hired a Local Installer and Tester (pictured below)

We would like to increase the number of days per week when we can perform installations so if you are interested in a part-time position as an entry-level installation technician see job description. We would love someone who is able to perform installations on Friday and Saturday. Interested applicants should email a resume to info@openbb.net for consideration.

This is How We Perform a Site Test

Our tester will come to your home (nobody needs to be present). She will attempt to visually spot one of our hub locations. If she can't visually see one of the hub locations she will test in the direction of the closest hub location with one or more of the four antennas below. She will use her laptop to test the connection and if it is successful she will record the antenna to use and the location where the antenna should be mounted.

Top Questions and Answers from Alexander County

  • Understanding the waitlist process. This was described in the October 2019 newsletter. Of course, you need to be on the waitlist so sign-up for the waitlist.
  • Do I have to pay at the time of installation? Yes, but payments are made online using a link that will be provided at the time of installation by the installer. The amount due will be the first month (residential rates currently start at $39.99 per month) plus the installation fee (currently $135 for residential customers).
  • What speed do I need? Read Minimum speed to stream Netflix, Hulu, and moreHere's how many Mbps is enough and What Internet Speed Do I Need for Streaming?
  • When will service be available at my address? We are not able to tell you when or if the service will be available at your address. We use the newsletters to notify you of where we are currently turning up customers. We are currently only doing a pilot program and will only be turning up three main access points during the pilot plus hub houses (as needed). The three main access points for the pilot program are Linney's Mountain Tower, Round Top Mountain, and the Craftmaster Furniture Water Tower in Hiddenite. We also plan to deploy some hub locations on Energy United Poles. The best way to increase the likelihood of faster service at your location is to make sure your neighbors are also on the waitlist and you notify us of vertical assets that may make a good hub location. Please use this Form to provide information about your tall structures.
