It might surprise you to learn the #1 trait I look for in new team members isn’t sales ability.
It’s energy.
In business, it’s so easy for our daily tasks to feel routine after awhile. In my business in particular, every single client that’s ever existed has some version of the same few problems with a home: Too small, too expensive, the layout isn’t right, doesn’t like the neighborhood, etc.
After awhile, it can get old. And, it can get draining. That drain becomes a downward spiral if you don’t have big energy. You can just stop caring, and then it’s game over. Can’t recover.
Energy, on the other hand, is what separates the achievers from the dreamers. Energy is what allows anyone, even on their worst day, to push forward with a smile, always reaching forward for the next thing that’s going to be great. And, it’s always all going to be great. Nothing is really ever that bad (unless it’s life or death, don’t get me wrong. I’m generally talking about your professional life here).
Low energy or bad energy is the thing that makes it bad.
Now, if you have energy even on your worst days, imagine what you can do with that on your best days. Energy is the impetus for success. It’s the engine.
So, I hire for big energy. Then, I can teach people with big energy how to sell (I have a book and a course about it, after all).
So, are you someone with big energy?
Think about that this week.
