The CDI is thinking about you!
In light of the circumstances of SUU moving online, we're sure many of you are feeling worried and concerned about both your education and your communities. The CDI wants you to know that even if the Center isn't open, we are still working to support you and your needs. If you ever need someone to talk to, Joel, Donnie, and the Beacons are still available through email.
Additionally, a lot of the campus' support services have also gone online.
The LGBTQIA+ Support Group that's facilitated by CAPS is moving online. It's held every Tuesday at 12 PM MST. If you're interested in attending, please send an email over to Kristina Johnson (kristinajohnson1@suu.edu) so she can give you more information.
CAPS is also holding drop-in virtual discussion groups. These are 50 minute sessions designed to assist with coping and provide skills to assist with coping. Return as many times as you like. No registration or RSVP is required. For more information and the meeting times, click this link!
If you're currently in Cedar City, the Hope Pantry is still open for either pick-up or delivery through the online Pantry Request form. Orders are filled every weekday, and are limited to once per week per person. For pick-up orders, a box of the items you requested will be left at the porch of the Community Engagement Center.
The CDI is also meeting twice a week for a CDI Social, every Tuesday and Thursday at 5 PM MST. Click here for the Zoom link and for a few hours of playing games, watching movies, and just being together. We hope to see you there!
Open Computer Labs On Campus
With the closing of the library, there have been a lot of people struggling with no or unreliable internet connection in their apartments, and that has affected their ability to do their work. In light of this, some computer labs on campus decided to open up to the students in set business hours:
Business 116 - open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
Event Center 219 - Mac lab, open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
Electronic Learning Center 310 - open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and Saturday 10 am to 3 pm
Electronic Learning Center 311 - open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and Saturday 10 am to 3 pm
Electronic Learning Center 312 - open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and Saturday 10 am to 3 pm. Help desk employee working in this lab who is available to provide assistance.

CDI Student of the Month
The CDI is excited to highlight some of the amazing students who are a part of the T-Bird family. This year we will continue our Student of the Month initiative where outstanding students can be nominated and featured throughout the school year.
Nominations are accepted from any SUU faculty, staff, or student. Winners will be chosen by the CDI team and will be recognized physically in the CDI, in the electronic newsletter, and will be awarded a gift card in appreciation.
The Student of the Month nominee should demonstrate the qualities of a leader, exemplify the CDI’s mission, and actively promotes the center’s message of inclusivity. Please nominate a deserving student for April HERE!

Events
New CDI Club! The CDI is proud to welcome the newest addition to our list of clubs: the Middle East Club! This club aims to shed light on the existing culture in the Middle East, including their customs, traditions, and ways of life. They will also highlight the arts, popular tourists locations, and the best way to get there. They'll be meeting every Friday at 4:30 PM in the CDI's Tank next semester. For their contact information, see the "Our Clubs!" list below or click this link.Certificate in Human Values Looking for a way to delve deeper into what it means to be human? The Tanner Center Certificate for Human Values is for you! This two-semester program aims to promote dialogue on ideas which best exemplify the human condition and the values which help to define it. Activities for fulfilling the certificate include the Tanner Lecture, Tanner Center Talks, Dinner and Dialogue, and a Community Engagement Center “mini-break.” This certificate is an institutional certificate that does not offer credit (aka: free!) but will show upon the transcript. Students who complete this program are eligible to apply for the full tuition Tanner Scholarship, or for one of the two half-tuition Tanner Fellowships. For more information and to apply, click here!

OUR MISSION The Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI) exists to validate the multiple identities present on our campus, while integrating the voices and experiences of marginalized people. We provide emotional, social, and financial support to students from historically underrepresented communities (e.g. students of color, LGBTQIA+ students, first-generation college students, etc.)
The CDI collaborates with campus partners to foster a learning environment that respects multiple perspectives and differences through multicultural clubs, workshops, trainings and cultural programming. The CDI invites members of the campus community to join in conversation about how to cultivate an inclusive, safe, and welcoming campus culture.
