3 Ways to Get Involved in Our 3rd Annual Disc Golf Fundraiser

Join us as local green building and disc golf enthusiasts come together Saturday, May 4 for a good cause at our third annual Disc Golf Fundraiser. Here are three ways to support our nonprofit and get involved in our annual fundraising tournament.

  1. VOLUNTEER: We partner closely with the WNC Disc Golf Association to host this event, and they are planning a volunteer workday at the Lake Julian course to get it ready for the playing season and our tournament.

The workday is from 10 a.m. through the afternoon on Saturday, March 23. They can use as many hands as are available, so come when you can—even an hour or two would be great! They also appreciate contributions of equipment (chainsaws, loppers, Bobcats, etc.) or material (to build fences, benches, bridges, steps, etc.). The day is sponsored by Wicked Weed with free food and beer for volunteers.

RSVP ASAP to Community Engagement Director Cari Barcas at cari@greenbuilt.org.

  2. SPONSOR: Support our nonprofit and rep your company by becoming a hole sponsor.

Birdie Sponsor ($100): Represent your company as a supporter of our nonprofit with a sign that you provide at a hole along the course. Your logo will be included on our website and social media promotions.

Ace Sponsor ($250): Receive the above exposure as well as the opportunity to have an in-person presence at your sponsored hole with a table or booth you provide to offer food, information or otherwise engage with players.

    For sponsorship, email cari@greenbuilt.org.

  3. PLAY: Participants will receive a tournament-branded disc, and play for the opportunity to win a cash purse, tickets to LEAF Festival or the Biltmore Estate, among other prizes.

Video Spotlight: Biophilic Design

Award-winning architect and International Living Future Institute CEO Amanda Sturgeon doesn’t just create beautiful buildings; she strives to design sustainable spaces that connect people with nature. Inspired by a “biophilic” design strategy, which translates to “love of life,” Amanda is determined to create projects that celebrate their surrounding environment.

From offices to schools to hospitals, Amanda and her team are finding that biophilic buildings create spaces in which people are happier, healthier, and more productive. Watch Amanda’s 2018 TEDMED Talk to learn how her designs are helping people to reconnect with the world around them.
