Energy Savers Network Featured in Video by The Sustainability Story

Yulia Shaffer, who serves as operations coordinator for our nonprofit's Energy Savers Network wing, was just profiled in a video by Garrett Martin of The Sustainability Story.

Under the umbrella of our Blue Horizons Project, Energy Savers Network is a volunteer-based initiative that provides free energy-efficiency and weatherization services to low-income homes in Western North Carolina.

Stay tuned as Blue Horizons Project will also be featured in an upcoming film in The Sustainability Story series, which highlight individuals working to combat climate change and lead the U.S. to a more sustainable future.

Partner Praise: NCBPA Advocates for Energy Efficiency at State Level

The North Carolina Building Performance Association is an important nonprofit partner of our organization that is engaged in advocating for our industry on many fronts.

Visit the NCBPA's Building Codes Initiative webpage for info on their current priorities and strategies, and explore ways to get involved below.

★ Consider getting involved in the NCBPA as a member and also participating on their Building Codes Committee.

Contact your Senate Representative to say you oppose the language found in page 3 line 40 of HB675, a bill involving a wealth of technical building code changes. Let them know that the North Carolina Building Code Council does not have an energy representative in its makeup to conduct a cost-benefit analysis, and the requirement itself is so vague that it could prove impossible to pass any energy code changes going forward.

★ Join the NCBPA at upcoming Raleigh meetings of the North Carolina Home Builders Association (May 21) and North Carolina Building Code Council (June 11) to support maintaining the state's energy-efficiency code requirements. Email Curt Hurd for more information.
