You're invited!
The LSU AgCenter is hosting a statewide conference dedicated to farm to school initiatives on October 22nd & 23rd, 2019 at the Pennington Biomedical Conference Center in Baton Rouge, LA.

The general conference on October 23 will address topics such as school gardening challenges, child nutrition, produce safety, barriers of farm to school, educational resources, and sourcing local food in schools. The conference will include panel discussions, breakout sessions, and opportunities for networking throughout the day. The 2 available tracks will be filled to the brim with farm to school information and resources on education, gardening, and local food procurement, so regardless if you are a farmer, distributor, teacher, student, child nutrition director, or volunteer, there will be something here for you!

A special Meet the Buyer, Greet the Grower event will kick off the conference on the evening of October 22 to provide farmers and school nutrition staff the opportunity to network and identify opportunities for increasing local food in school meals. This is a free event in which local farmers will have the opportunity to connect with various food distributors, child nutrition directors, and food hubs in a relaxed face-to-face setting prior to the conference. It will be a wonderful networking opportunity that you do not want to miss!
We will also recognize our Champions for Change during the conference program. Anyone who has made a significant impact on farm to school in Louisiana may be considered for this award including students, teachers, volunteers, gardeners, or other community partners.
