Whānau News: 19 August
Hi FBC whānau!
“Not everything that weighs you down is yours to carry.”
Today I want to encourage everyone who love helping people who are going through hardship. When you’re in the “people business”, as we all are to some extent, whether you’re crunching numbers, hammering nails; or in church ministry, you will at some stage come across people telling you about all their hardships. Listening to someone who needs to talk about the hard things in their life is a one of the greatest gifts we can give them. However, there is a trap we need to be aware of, and it is that many Christians tend to be rescuers or people pleasers. In our desire to help, we end up exhausted to the point where we cannot thrive in the unique gifts that God has bestowed upon each of us. So, instead of being weighed down by burdens that are not ours to carry, let us give them to the One who has the ability to carry it all.
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens.” Psalm 68:19

Prophetic Encouragement : Part 1 | Tim Palmer
We are called to be people who speak God’s words, that will bring encouragement, comfort and edification. This Sunday we look at 1 Corinthians 14 and Ezra 3 to consider how prophetic words can change lives and inspire God’s people into action. “For all of you can prophesy, one by one, so all may learn, and all may be encouraged.” 1 Cor 14:31
Join us at 9:30AM for a coffee/tea and the service will start at 10AM in-person (or follow this link for the online service).

For the Kids this Week...
We have great children’s programs running during the service and we look forward to seeing your children there. Pre-school room (0- 5 yrs), Discovery kids room (yrs 1-6) and FBI (yrs 7-8). Please remember to sign in your children as you enter the building.

Whānau Worship Night
This Sunday the 21st of August at 7pm, we are having our second Whānau Worship night. We meet in the cafe to pray, sing, share and discern the heart of Christ together and EVERYONE is welcome!

Alpha Marriage Course - Starting soon!
The Marriage Course was designed to help couples invest in their relationship and build a strong marriage. Topics covered include: Strengthening Connection, The Art of Communication, Resolving Conflict, The Power of Forgiveness, The Impact of Family, Intimacy and Love in Action. Alpha
The Alpha courses have begun, and it is not too late to join in the fun. If you have questions or you know someone that has questions, invite or better yet, bring them along.
Next meeting: Wednesday 24th Aug at 6.45pm in the church cafe. Light refreshments provided. Please invite someone to come along. Register at the info centre.

Treasurer position
Jan Day has served as the Treasurer of Franklin Baptist Church for many years but now feels to step down from this role. Thank you, Jan, for all your hard work and time you have invested into this role. The church is now looking for someone to pick up this voluntary position of Treasurer. We want to support you during this time, so if you are isolating please jump on the 'Church Center' app. Find the 'I'm Isolating' event in the events tab and follow the instructions to sign up your whānau for some practical and spiritual support during this time.
