A moment from my annual summer concert under the stars in Provence
Dear Friends,

I hope your summer has been both relaxing and memorable, whether you are enjoying New England's numerous summer delights or have traveled to distant lands. Michael and I have returned to Boston after almost three months away, but our beloved music series and all of you were never very far from our thoughts!

And now, in just over a month, we are eager to dive into our 26th season with five exciting, varied programs, beginning on Sept 24/25.

It has been said that more than any other composer, Mozart has the life-affirming superpower to make us feel happy to be alive. I chose this mostly-Mozart program in light of all that is going on in the world that regularly threatens our ability to stay afloat in both heart and mind.

We are so pleased to welcome back Gloria Chien to our stage for a chamber performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto in A Major,  K. 414. Gloria has been selected by the Boston Globe as one of the Superior Pianists of the year, “. . .  who appears to excel in everything,”  and praised her for  “a wondrously rich palette of colors, which she mixes with dashing bravado and with an uncanny precision of calibration…Chien's performance had it all, and it was fabulous."
Clockwise from left: Gloria Chien, piano; Gabriela Diaz, violin & viola; Donald Palma, bass; Stephanie Fong, viola; Julie Scolnik, flute;
Sarita Kwok, violin; Sasha Scolnik-Brower, cello
Although COVID19 stubbornly lingers, we hope that most of you feel comfortable returning to our venues.  Like most other arts organizations, Mistral is loosening its restrictions. Masks are recommended, but optional.  Everyone attending must self-attest to having been fully vaccinated and boosted.

As a special promotion to encourage you back into our halls, we’re offering general admission for individual concerts at our subscription rate of $35, no matter how many concerts you order. But please order early, and for as many as possible! It helps us enormously to know you will (literally) be there for us.

Thank you again for your notes telling me what these concerts mean to you. Nothing makes me happier. We look forward to sharing more intimate concert experiences with you as we head into our 26th Season.

Thanks so much to those of you who have already read my memoir. Beyond the thrill of finally seeing it in print after so many decades, I am touched by the daily emails from readers who tell me it resonated deeply with them and brought back stories of their own. (All book info at www.JulieScolnik.com) Available through Indie Booksellers, and Amazon. (Would be thrilled to join your bookclubs if interested!)
“Not every true story is like a good novel, but this one is. Not every memoir of first love has a satisfying ending, but this one does. The confluence of first love with becoming an artist makes this memoir special.” John Irving
