Find the Cause

Before anyone is operated on in a hospital all the surgical instruments are sterilized. Likewise, if we want to operate well in society, and in our daily lives, we should become sterilized instruments. How? By keeping the mind and body healthy and understanding the cause of any disturbances.

What We Can Learn from a Flower
By Sri Swami Satchidananda

We can find lessons in everything we do. One of the lessons that I learned as a mechanic, many years ago, is very useful in being able to control the mind. The newer vehicles probably don’t require this anymore, but way back then, a car had to be periodically lubricated. The car was raised on a lift so you could see the places called greasing points. The old grease was dirty and so you had to put in new grease with a grease gun, that was squeezed similar to how a caulking gun works.  MORE

On July 6, 2021, the Dalai Lama offered this inspiring birthday message. The Mind & Life Institute were among organizations to honor the Dalai Lama’s birthday, with their release of “Evolution of the Heart.” The 37-minute film chronicles conversations between the Dalai Lama, evolutionary biologist David Sloan Wilson, and social scientist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela exploring questions at the heart of the human condition.

You need only put one foot in front of the other, one breath after the other, and you will come out of the tunnel at the other end. Nothing lasts forever, as everything in this transient world is subject to change. It is a heartening assurance that when the pendulum of life swings to the extremes... MORE

In this discussion between Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. Christopher Wallis, they discuss the nature of Consciousness and how we know anything that we know. And, as Swami Satchidananda always taught, enlightenment is nothing you need to "get" from outside or "achieve." Rather, our True Nature is always awakened, we just don't "recognize" it. Their discussion focuses on the The Recognition Sutras, which teaches one how to recognize and abide in essence-nature.
