Meet Us at Hi-Wire Tonight to 
Help Fund Solar for Our Neighbors
Please join Green Built Alliance, Blue Horizons Project and Solarize Asheville-Buncombe for a Neighbor to Neighbor Solar fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 15 (TONIGHT!) at Hi-Wire Big Top. A dollar of each flagship beer sold at the event will be donated to the campaign. 

Several local families have already been identified to receive solar power. The first installation happened July 6. A major impact on a family’s energy burden can occur with the help of your donation. Our fundraising goal is $200,000 total, and we've raised $80,000 thus far.

Energy Savers Network Updates: Volunteer Video & Simple Energy Tips


Our first month working on the 1,000 Homes project with the Housing Authority of the City of Asheville (HACA) has been a huge success! If you haven't volunteered already, please consider coming out this month.

We've updated our calendar's event pages to display who has signed up as a volunteer, and produced a training video to show what a normal workday looks like and how easy it is to get involved.

We also created a webpage with downloadable handouts in English and Spanish to share our best and easiest energy-efficiency tips that you can do at home to help reduce your energy usage and save big on your energy bills! Watch the videos to learn more tips and how-tos.

Save the Date to Celebrate 20-Year Anniversary at Our Annual Party

After a year of limited opportunities to gather as a community, we look forward to reuniting at our annual member appreciation and networking party on Thursday, Sept. 9 at French Broad Outfitters' Hominy Creek outdoor location along the river.

We'll have lots to celebrate:
  • Green Built Alliance's 20-year anniversary as a nonprofit
  • Green Built Homes' milestone of 2,000 projects certified
  • The release of our 2021 Green Building Directory magazine
Please mark your calendars to save the date now, and stay tuned for further details. As always, this after-work party is open to the public and will include free food, live music and a cash bar.

And, since we have so much to celebrate this year, we're adding a mid-afternoon paddle down the river. Our partners at French Broad Outfitters are offering a generous discount on their normal rates for this trip and it will also serve as a fundraiser for GBA.

Partner Plug: Final Deadline for Parade of Homes Participants

The Parade of Homes is Asheville’s largest showcase tour of residential homes, and this will be its 40th year.

As a partner of the Asheville Home Builders Association, our nonprofit's Green Built Homes program offers a 20 percent discount on certification registration to any Parade entry.
(Protip: Builders also receive two extra points on our Green Built Homes checklist for Parade participation!)
